Digitalization will put new demands on our business and drives IT to become an important digital asset for business development, new business models and corporate efficiency. While technology plays an important role in the success of digital commerce, Dometic business success goes well beyond the technology, and will be designed and driven from the customer’s perspective. Investing in customer experience design will lead to better performance of the digital commerce service.

The digital commerce manager will be responsible to establish a strategy and a digital commerce platform that quickly responds to business and market changes to enable the company to stay ahead of the competition in digital commerce. Digital commerce projects and initiatives need to be continuously tracked, analyzed and adjusted for refinements. Dometic company goals, business objectives, KPIs and scope may change as business evolves and customer expectations change.

Digital commerce is never an IT-only project, and requires support and involvement from several business units including sales, marketing, operations, R&D and customer service.

About the role

The Digital Commerce Manager is responsible to envision and drive what type of digital commerce services that will be offered by the company. Furthermore, the role is responsible to estimate the level of digital transactions and the types of channels (digital and/or physical) that will be covered by the digital commerce platform. Digital channels include online, mobile, social, email and physical channels include stores, branches and service facilities. To be successful the candidate needs to:

  • Establishing a cross-functional team with key stakeholders.
  • Define Business Goals and Key Performance Indicators for the digital commerce platform.
  • Drive data and privacy aspects: This relates to customer and transaction data — ensure practices comply with local regulations, and look for potential pitfalls, improvements and work-arounds.
  • Transactions and fraud: Ensure technologies are in place to meet industry standards such as payment security, and assess whether additional protection is needed to guard against fraud.
  • Drive requirements on IT infrastructure – relates to the infrastructure supporting digital commerce such as data centres, storage, communication networks and back-office applications integrated with the digital commerce platform.
  • Run business case analysis for the coming years, based on the project scope and include future phases. Develop best, base and worst scenarios using different sets of assumptions such as growth, adoption, channel and market expansions, and security mechanisms.
  • Design the Customer Experience and Map the Customer Journey. The standard of digital customer experience continues to improve because it is a key focal point of innovation initiatives. Therefore, anything less than a comparable customer experience will be treated harshly in the market, and designing the customer experience is a key step in the strategy planning process that will impact success of your digital commerce service.
  • Define Target Customers.
  • Define functional requirements – The digital commerce platform includes core functionalities and ecosystem applications. Core functionalities such as digital store management, merchandise management, customer care, localization, multichannel, reporting and analytics are minimum requirements to run a digital commerce service.
